Mel Sutton

Mel has spent the last decade in financial services, starting his career at BNY Mellon and Morgan Stanley. Since launching his own business in 2018, he’s worked with over a dozen service providers across technology and professional services—ranging from start-ups to private equity-backed firms—primarily focused on growth and strategy initiatives. He is the founder of Argyll & Buchanan, a consulting business, and more recently Altallo, a networking platform for the capital markets and alternative investments space. Through Altallo, Mel is building a dedicated environment for professionals to connect, collaborate, and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry. Before financial services, Mel was a time-served welder working on the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland. He spent three years learning the trade while working on the construction of a Type 45 Destroyer and HMS Queen Elizabeth, an aircraft carrier. Mel has been heavily involved in building financial communities, connecting firms, and shaping industry conversations. He’s not one for corporate fluff—he believes in cutting through the noise, focusing on what actually matters, and creating value for people who are willing to think differently. He’s a Chartered Banker and holds an MBA from Bangor Business School, but he’d probably tell you that real-world experience counts just as much.
